A Bad Day for Smokie: Todd's entry at Sundance

This is an outtake from filming my mom's 60th birthday video. I didn't even realize what was happening until the very end. I can't stop looking at this and laughing. You need to experience Todd's brilliance as a budding film director, producer, cinematographer...

Welcome Owen... You're a Rhodes Now!

The Cornpancakes clan would like to welcome

Owen Tyler Rhodes

to the world. He arrived on Sunday, April 5th (4/5 which has some significance) at 3 in the AM. He came in at a healthy 7 pounds 6 ounces and 20 inches long.

Brittany was a trouper and Tyler was brave. When we visited, Brittany was as cheerful as ever and looking great. You never would have guessed she had just given birth less than 12 hours ago (except for all the cold packs in unmentionable places).

Owen had had a long nap, a good feed, and was wide awake and scrutinizing these so-called relatives. He looks like Tyler (so says me) and has a SURPRISING amount of long hair... it's not that dark, it's just long. If Owen were Owina we'd be doing pigtails already.

P1080150

Tyler is a good husband and already has several very sticky diapers under his belt (the first one was at least 8 wipies, he says). Here are the boys figuring things out while the ladies look on admiringly:

Typical...

This is what you are in for, Owen. Note the expression on Owen's face... he'll get used to the Rhodes way. We were discussing how many calories it would take to make a baby... and how many calories it would be if you ATE a baby.

This is better...

P1080155

Owen is yawning.

Owen can't wait to meet the other Rhodes boys & Uncle Travy & Auntie Jenni, Grandma Chris & Grandpa Kent, and Auntie Darcy.

It's so fun to see the Cornpancakes clan grow!

Two legs

We went to the zoo on Friday, and new and improved "Walking Calvin" took bites of lunch then would run off and chase the birds during our little picnic. I think it's primal; He needs nourishment, but he also needs to hunt and gather.

The Comcast Technician

Absolute true story. We had a Comcast technician at the house today and Ethan got off the bus from school. He noticed someone in the backyard and totally froze. He tensed up and Jenni asked him what was wrong and he said all quiet:
Ethan: “Todd.”
Jenni: “You think that’s your Uncle Todd? Man, it really does look like Todd from in here.”
Ethan: “Yeah”

He sometimes gets a little tense when he sees someone at our house he hasn’t seen in a long time. He was positively freaked out by Grandpa last month, but now loves to repeat all the funny things he did when he was here. We think it's because he knows it means something bigger than normal is happening. Jenni thinks it was also because Todd wasn’t even saying hi or anything, just lurking around the outside of the house in a tool belt.

He was able to deal with it better once Jenni told him who it really was.
“No Ethan, that’s not Todd. Her name is Larissa, and she’s here to fix our TV.”

We Are Blog (and So Can You!)

So continuing on the last post, I thought I'd include links to the respective blogs of everyone in the family, though all are in their various stages of updatedness:

Carrie's, Stuff-n-Stuff

Darcy's, Oregon Welcomes You (not recently updated. She's busy, OK?)

Jenni's, Naptime Diaries

Dad's, Goosebury Observer
(I think Grandpa found his groove on that last post about TP. Hillarious.)

Travis's, rhodeblog

Todd's, fickle matter

I couldn't find one for Mom, Tyler or Britt, but I'm sure they exist and we're just not being told.

Jenni's Blog

So I have seen a link to this blog on a lot of our friends blogs, and since this is not the official Travis Rhodes family blog, this is one for his whole family, I thought I'd put up a quick link to my blog jrho.blogspot.com I am really bad at keeping it up, but for those interested in a little more detail into the Maple Valley Rhodes fam., there you go! Maybe some day we'll make a united blog of Travis and my efforts, emphasis on the "someday". Thanks!
